Gillian Turner

Technical Director in Program

Gillian has 25 years of development experience; primarily as a health economist and health systems specialist in Africa and South Asia, with a focus on addressing poverty and inequity. Her experience encompasses sexual and reproductive health and rights, nutrition, wider determinants of health, and systems reform. She has led policy, strategy, and programme development; supported the design of international financing mechanisms; undertaken impact, economic, equity, process, and other evaluations; designed accountability mechanisms; led multilateral coordination processes; designed and supervised economic and equity research processes.

She was excited to join ThinkWell because of its strong and growing reputation in the field of Health Financing, giving her the opportunity to pursue her desire to help countries get better outcomes from the money that they and their populations spend on health services.  She was particularly delighted to work on a programme focussing on primary health care, as it is at the primary and community levels where the greatest and most cost-effective benefits can be realized.
