WASHINGTON, DC, March 1, 2023―ThinkWell, a leading a global health organization dedicated to improving health systems in low- and middle-income countries, announced today that Yogesh Rajkotia, the organization’s founder and CEO, will be stepping down from his role as CEO after 11 years to become Chairman of the Board. Rajkotia has appointed Dai Hozumi, an accomplished global health leader, to succeed him as CEO of the organization effective immediately.
Under Rajkotia’s leadership, ThinkWell has become a recognized leader in health systems strengthening, health financing, and health policy and governance with a team of over 150 staff and a presence in 13 countries. As he moves into his new role as Chairman of the Board, Rajkotia will continue to champion the organization’s mission and values.
“Founders often have a deep attachment to their organizations, but it is critical for the long-term growth and success of an organization that the founder eventually steps aside,” said Rajkotia. “I am confident that Dai Hozumi’s leadership will take ThinkWell to new heights, and I am thrilled to continue supporting the organization as Chairman of the Board.”
As he steps into this role, Hozumi brings over three decades of experience in global health and development. Prior to joining ThinkWell, he was the Chief Technical Officer at Intrahealth International. He has also held leadership positions with Management Sciences for Health and PATH.
As the funding landscape continues to shift and technology advances rapidly in many countries, Hozumi recognizes that we must challenge ourselves to be relevant and meaningful to the development of global health. He has gladly stepped into the role to lead ThinkWell with care and integrity and will continue to enable the organization to make even more provocative solutions to health systems challenges.
“Global health development is full of unspoken conventions, rules, authorities, and assumptions,” said Hozumi. “Challenging them requires deep knowledge, insights, and courage. I am excited to join a truly rebellious team at ThinkWell.”
